He came to EHTC with over three years of public accounting experience in the Minneapolis and Grand Rapids areas and four years of private accounting knowledge. Mike’s past experience has enabled him to excel at EHTC as he plays a key role in the tax department leadership. He develops knowledge and growth within fellow team members and is highly involved in the firm’s fall recruiting, where many interns continue in their careers at EHTC under Mike’s leadership.
In addition to developing team members, Mike’s focus in the firm is spread among many different areas, allowing him to have a large impact on EHTC and its team members. He is highly involved in EHTC’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, which works with West Michigan businesses to provide exit strategy planning, transaction structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and tax and financial due diligence. Due diligence, an imperative step for companies looking to purchase or sell a business, involves assessing financial data and tax compliance to ensure the company’s financial representation and tax filings are accurate, eliminating any surprises that may arise after transactions. Mike is highly involved in the Tax department as well, excelling in consulting and tax compliance for businesses and individuals. His industry focus includes manufacturing, real estate, construction, insurance and managed services.
Mike is a graduate of Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and received his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. He participates in firm-wide volunteering events and charitable functions, helping to make a positive impact within the community. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and son, traveling to northern Michigan to experience new breweries and restaurants along the way. He also enjoys the outdoors and spends much of his free time hunting and fishing. Mike has had tremendous growth within EHTC and the entire team is looking forward to his continued positive changes in the future.
