Stephanie Kraus, CPA, CFE, joined Echelbarger, Himebaugh, Tamm & Co., P.C. in October 2017 as an Assurance Manager and was promoted in 2019 to Senior Manager. Prior to joining EHTC, she spent 10 years in public accounting focusing on assurance services for a range of industries including non-profit organizations, K-12 school districts, HUD Housing, tribal casinos, and governments. Stephanie obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the Eli Broad College of Business from Michigan State University and her Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She has attained both CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) certifications, enabling her to expand EHTC’s service offerings within the firm.
Stephanie focuses on the audits, compilations, and reviews for non-public companies, some of which are required by financial institutions for loans and compliance. She completes many Employee Benefit Audits (EBP audits) that are required by the Department of Labor for companies with more than 100 employees, ensuring all reporting requirements are met. Stephanie also works on preparing financial statements to ensure the financial books balance, enabling clients to become more comfortable on the numbers presented to internal and external parties. She has also grown her expertise in agreed upon procedures, specifically for medical marijuana businesses to assist them in completing the financial requirement due to the State of Michigan. Within the department, Stephanie is a leader in the career development of the Assurance team, maintains the client lists to ensure deadlines are met, coordinates communication between clients and other EHTC team members, and maintains the rights for various software platforms within the firm.
When out of the office, Stephanie can be found spending time with family and friends and traveling to northern Michigan, especially the Traverse City wine region. She enjoys boating in the Holland/Saugatuck area and going to the beach at Holland State Park. Stephanie is also Treasurer of the Grand Rapids Rowing Club, where she has been a member for the last two years. A congratulations to Stephanie from the entire EHTC team not only for her current accomplishments and continuously moving the Assurance team and firm forward, but also on her recent engagement to her fiancé Matt.
