CHRISTINE E. COX, CPA
Senior Accountant - Assurance
Christine E. Cox, CPA joined Echelbarger, Himebaugh, Tamm & Co., P.C. (EHTC) as a Staff Accountant in the Assurance Department in September 2016 and was promoted to Senior Accountant in 2019. Prior to EHTC, Christine completed a tax internship in Traverse City, MI, where she worked on the preparation of 1099 forms and individual income tax returns. She also has over ten years of experience in finance and accounting, having worked for community financial institutions as a personal banker, and a waste hauling/environmental services company, acting as an Accounting Clerk and Assistant to the Financial Administrator. Christine graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor's of Public Accountancy and is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). She obtained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 2020.
Since moving to West Michigan and joining EHTC, Christine plays a key role within the Assurance Department. She focuses her time on bookkeeping and financial statement preparation for a variety of private equity funds and insurance industry clients. She assists these clients who, for regulatory and independence reasons, are audited by other firms by acting as a liaison to their external auditors. She is able to give clients a deliverable that can be presented to bankers and potential investors or contributors, which is important when a professionally prepared document is needed. Christine also does work on 401(k) audits, which are required when a company has 100 eligible participants in a plan and an audit of the plan’s financial standing is needed to be completed by an independent qualified public accountant. Christine has also been instrumental in cannabis compliance reporting for clients, where she reviews the historical books and records to ensure revenues and expenses reporting are in compliance with Michigan’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) guidelines.
Out of the office, Christine spends time with her family, enjoys reading and crocheting, and considers herself an amateur photographer. She is passionate about organizations that focus on children's services, financial empowerment and literacy, as well as organizations with heart, kidney, Multiple Sclerosis, and diabetes initiatives. Christine is always up for new experiences and the firm is looking forward to how she will continue to take on new challenges within the firm as well.
