Senior Tax Manager

EHTC has experienced significant growth over the past few years and is seeking a full-time, experienced Senior Manager for our Tax Department to help facilitate this continuing progress. As a rapidly growing midsize accounting firm in West Michigan, we combine deep industry experience, comprehensive accounting, and advisory services with a strong commitment to personal service. This position is hands-on managing EHTC’s client engagements while reporting back to Partners. Duties for this position require involvement in all phases of client engagement including but not limited to assisting staff, performing technical research, reviewing returns, and communicating with the client throughout the entire process. As a full-service public accounting firm providing business solutions, EHTC can offer our people opportunity and experience in a full complement of industry-specific functions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Our ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of public accounting experience in a tax environment, with a concentrated focus on complicated returns involving individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and tax-exempt entities. This includes multi-state taxation amongst all entity types
  • Delegates work to staff according to their experience and capabilities
  • Reviews tax working papers, tax returns, and determines that the engagement has been performed in accordance with professional standards and the terms of the engagement letter
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved
  • Provides overall leadership, mentoring, supervision, training, and performance feedback to staff and managers
  • Serves as role model for those who strive personal excellence, empowers others to work productively and to be leaders
  • Develops business by expanding existing relationships with clients, maintaining personal networks, and participating in civic, charitable, and professional organizations
  • Responsible for completion and timely deliverables to clients

Essential Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of the tax process
  • Excellent MS Office experience
  • Knowledge of Accounting and Tax Software is required
  • BS in Accounting from an accredited university; Masters in Tax preferred
  • CPA Certification required, additional certifications desired
  • Strong skills in oral/written communication, research, and general accounting
  • Identify and manage staffing/resources to fulfill client and firm needs
  • Effectively communicates all aspects of work performed to clients, partners, managers and staff
  • Coordinates and supports practice development and client services across business lines
  • Identify opportunities for generating additional value and new services to existing clients
  • Works with client’s third-party relationship for tax planning, etc. and provides tax planning to clients that encompasses business needs


Assurance Staff Accountant

EHTC is seeking to fill a full-time Assurance Staff position. Due to recent growth in the Assurance Department, this is a newly created position. As an Assurance Staff at EHTC, you will work closely with our clients and the Assurance Team. The position includes West Michigan based clients, great work-life balance, and a progressive firm culture.

Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates with Assurance Senior, Manager, and Partner on all phases of the engagement, including planning, fieldwork, communications with the client, and wrap-up through report issuance
    • Workpaper and financial statement preparation for compilations, reviews, and audits for various industries including manufacturing and distribution, financial services, service, construction, and employee benefit plans
    • Researches and resolves GAAP accounting issues

Job Requirements:

    • 0-1 years of assurance experience in Public Accounting
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 150 credits
    • Eligibility for CPA certification
    • Strong analytical skills; ability to make decisions
    • Strong skills in oral/written communication, project management, research, and general accounting

Tax Intern

EHTC is seeking a full-time tax intern for 2022 Busy Season. The internship normally runs from January until approximately April 15.

Echelbarger, Himebaugh, Tamm & Co., P.C. (EHTC) provides our tax interns with a variety of on-the-job experiences while working in a team environment, as well as introduces them to specific tax and accounting software programs. 

Our interns learn and become proficient in the following software:

    • Ultra Tax CS
    • Prosystem fx Engagement
    • QuickBooks
    • Scan Flow for document scanning
    • Sureprep
    • Practice CS for time entry
    • Fixed Assets CS
    • FirmFlow for project tracking
    • Online research for various information and data
    • Individual property tax data

Interns are trained and proceed to prepare the following tax forms and office procedures:

    • Federal, state, and city individual tax forms (which will include Schedules A, B, C, D, E and many other forms)
    • Individual income tax extensions
    • Amended Federal, State and City Individual Tax Returns
    • S-Corporation and Partnership Extensions
    • Personal Property Tax forms
    • Forms 1099 and 1096
    • Quarterly payroll tax forms
    • W-2 preparation for federal, state and city with appropriate transmittal forms
    • Year- end payroll tax forms
    • Scanning source documents for 1040 preparation and workpaper organization
    • Potential preparation of business tax returns which may include Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065 and others as time permits
    • Preparation of depreciation schedules
    • Workpaper preparation for various tax forms
    • Other tax and department assistance 

EHTC tax interns interact with all team members from administrative team to the Partners. They attend in-house tax updates, department meetings, and team meetings which encompass the entire staff. Our interns become integral members of our busy season team.

 

Assurance Intern

EHTC is seeking a full-time assurance intern for 2022 Busy Season. The internship normally runs from January until approximately April 15.

This position provides the intern with a variety of on-the-job experiences while working in a team environment, as well as introduces them to specific audit and accounting software programs.

Our interns learn and become proficient in the following software:

    • Checkpoint Tools, Smart Practice Aids, Online Research
    • Prosystem fx Engagement
    • QuickBooks
    • TValue
    • Practice CS for time entry
    • Fixed Assets CS
    • FirmFlow

Interns are trained to prepare various aspects of the following assurance engagements and office procedures:

    • Assist with audit testing
    • Prepare compilation, review, audit, and other assurance reports and financial statements
    • Prepare various financial statement disclosures and supplemental schedules
    • Preparation of depreciation schedules
    • Workpaper preparation for various engagements and testing
    • Other assurance and department assistance

EHTC assurance interns interact with all team members from the administrative team to the Partners. They attend in-house department updates, department meetings, and team meetings which encompass the entire team. Our interns become an integral member of our busy season team.

 

 

Administrative Assistant

EHTC is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant/Receptionist for our company. This position is directly responsible for the first impression of our firm, office appearance, and database management. As a strong, culture-driven organization, we want to introduce you to the foundation of EHTC - our core focus and values.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Welcome guests and prepare rooms for meetings
  • Answer incoming calls and direct to correct team member
  • Database management
  • Filing
  • Assist with mailings
  • Organize, scan and process documents
  • Firm-wide lunch ordering
  • Office supply inventory and stocking
  • Communicate messages to partners, managers, and other team members to resolve client questions on a timely basis
  • Perform full administrative duties including typing memorandums, engagement letters, correspondence, documents and reports
  • Assist with other projects and duties as assigned

 

Essential Job Requirements:

  • 1+ year of experience in administration in an office setting
  • Friendly demeanor to guests both in person and on the phone
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on routine work, more detailed instructions on new projects or assignments
  • Strong skills in oral/written communication
