Outsourced Controller

Due to significant growth over the past few years, EHTC is seeking a full-time experienced Accountant for an Outsourced Controller Position within our Accounting Services Department to help facilitate this continued growth. As a rapidly growing midsize accounting firm in West Michigan, we combine deep industry experience, comprehensive accounting and advisory services with a strong commitment to personal service. Duties for this position include providing outstanding service to our clients through focused automation of client processes, accurate and timely issuance of financial reporting, proactive analysis of financial and business results, and successfully collaborating with other EHTC departments. Responsibilities: 

 

CFO Services

  • Serve as primary direct contact for assigned clients, meeting with each client quarterly at a minimum
  • Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the company
  • Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs, improve product profitability, cash flow planning, banking, insurance and other “finance” related activities
  • Assist with budgeting, strategic planning and financial projections
  • Reporting and oversight of month-end closings
  • Help identify and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
  • Management of accounting and bookkeeping processes
  • Accounting documentation including processes, procedures and operations manuals
  • Key metric benchmarking
  • Third party accounting software selection and implementation
  • Support the CEO with the preparation of monthly and annual financial plans

 

Accounting Services

  • Assist with conducting new potential client work evaluation, developing work proposals and presenting to clients to ensure potential new client fit department’s/firm’s strategic direction
    • Ensure proper Engagement Letter & client file set-up
  • Provide outstanding, proactive client service
    • Automate routine, repetitive tasks with selected standard software packages
    • Establish and meet client deadlines
    • Ensure “controllership” activities are performed on monthly/quarterly rhythm
      • Manage financial controls and accounting procedures
    • Provide meaningful financial reporting and analysis monthly/quarterly
  • Develop processes and procedures for serving Accounting Services clients
    • Consults and successfully coordinates with other Partners, and Tax and Assurance teammates to ensure seamless integration of services
    • Minimize “manual” tasks with focus on utilizing technology both internally and with clients
    • Ensure proper and full usage of EHTC GoFileRoom and Engagement systems

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA or CPA preferred)
  • Proficiency in Financial Statement Analysis
  • 4+ years of experience preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
  • Team player with a positive “can do” approach
  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
  • Proficiency in MS Office software

Tax Manager - Family Wealth Expertise
EHTC has experienced significant growth over the past few years and is seeking a full-time, experienced Manager for the Family Wealth Industry. As a rapidly growing midsize accounting firm in West Michigan, we combine deep industry experience, comprehensive accounting and advisory services with a strong commitment to personal service. This position is hands-on managing EHTC’s client engagements while reporting back to Partners and Senior Management. Duties for this position include involvement in all phases of client engagement – the execution of the engagement letter, assisting staff, performing technical research, reviewing returns and communicating with the client throughout the entire process. As a full-service public accounting firm providing business solutions, EHTC is able to offer our people opportunity and experience in a full complement of industry-specific functions. 

 

Responsibilities:

    • Our ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of family wealth accounting experience in a tax environment, with a concentrated focus on servicing high net worth individuals and their various investment entities and family trusts
    • Tax return expertise for various trusts, charitable remainder trusts, foundations, and investment partnerships
    • Technical expertise to read and understand trust and LLC agreements
    • Ability to manage multiple engagements at the same time including ability to execute under pressure during tax deadlines
    • Organized and excellent communicator of status updates, outstanding or missing information, new opportunities, etc.
    • Develop and maintain client relationships including the client’s family wealth advisors such as bankers, investment advisors, legal, etc., to ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved
    • Willingness to help recruit others or identify team members to specialize in this area as to grow a larger team for the firm to best serve our growing client needs
    • Delegate work to staff according to their experience and capabilities in conformance with the planning documents described above
    • Review the tax working papers, tax returns, and determine that the engagement has been performed in accordance with professional standards and the terms of the engagement letter
    • Provide overall leadership, supervision, training, and performance feedback to team members
    • Develop business by expanding existing relationships with clients, maintaining personal networks, and participating in civic, charitable and professional organizations

Essential Job Requirements:

    • 5-7 years of experience in public accounting
    • Thorough knowledge of the tax process
    • Excellent MS Office experience
    • Knowledge of Accounting and Tax Software is required
    • BS in Accounting from an accredited university; Masters in Tax preferred
    • CPA Certification required; additional certifications desired
    • Strong skills in oral/written communication, research and general accounting

Accounting Services Senior Accountant

Due to significant growth over the past few years, EHTC is seeking a full-time experienced (4+ years) Senior Staff Accountant for our Accounting Services Department. As a rapidly growing midsize accounting firm in West Michigan, we combine deep industry experience, comprehensive accounting and advisory services with a strong commitment to personal service. Duties for this include providing outstanding service to our clients through: focused automation of client processes, accurate and timely issuance of financial reporting, monthly closing of client books and successfully collaborating with other EHTC departments. As a full-service public accounting firm providing business solutions, EHTC is able to offer our people opportunities and experience in a full complement of industry-specific functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Our ideal candidate will possess 4+ years of public accounting experience in an accounting services environment, with a concentrated focus on:
    • Analyzing complex financial reports and records
    • Making recommendations based on analysis of client accounting records and financial statements
    • Reviewing journal entries of staff accountants to ensure accuracy and preparing complex journal entries
    • Producing financial reports and related bank and account reconciliations on a timely basis
    • Continual analysis of processes and procedures to ensure that projects are being completed efficiently
    • Preparation of and/or review of client’s income, sales, payroll and other tax returns as required
    • Assisting clients with various accounting, special projects and requests as needed
    • Coordinating with Managers and Shareholders on all phases of the engagement, including execution of the engagement letter, communications with the client, staffing requirements, job planning and scheduling
    • Leading small teams of staff accountants as the in-charge on projects
    • Providing overall leadership, supervision, training, and performance feedback to staff
    • Develops business by expanding existing relationships with clients, maintaining personal networks, and participating in civic, business, and professional organizations

Essential Job Requirements:

    • 4+ years of experience in public accounting
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
    • CPA Certification preferred
    • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to make decisions
    • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
    • Knowledge of Accounting Software is required (QuickBooks Experience Preferred)
    • Strong skills in oral/written communication, research and general accounting
