Meet Dennis!

CPA, CFF, CGMA | Valuation, Litigation and Forensics Consultant, Founder of EHTC

​​Dennis Echelbarger, CPA, CFF, CGMA, is a Valuation, Litigation and Forensics Consultant and the founder of EHTC. He founded EHTC in 1977 and has dedicated over 44 years to the firm. 

Dennis started his career in the accounting field during his senior year of college when he was invited by his accounting professor to work for an accounting firm during tax season. He went on to graduate from Aquinas College in 1964. He spent eleven years as an employee and partner at another local CPA firm and four years as the Chief Financial Officer of several manufacturing and wholesaling companies. He taught at Davenport University and for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). Dennis earned the designation Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), which indicates specialized forensic accounting experience. He also earned the Charter Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, which is the global designation for CPAs working in business and government.

Dennis is part of EHTC’s Advisory Services Team, specializing in forensic investigations and reports, expert witness work, reports and testimony, business valuation work, consulting, and business consulting. He often serves as a testifying expert in court for business valuations, divorces, damage calculations, forensic accounting, accounting principles, tax issues, and accountant and auditor professional performance. He also assists with valuations, where he determines the value of a business. Dennis has many years of experience in ensuring clients receive the detailed report based on his skills and expertise. He is also active in the area of financial forensics and has assisted and testified in several cases involving various types of fraud. Dennis says that every new day at EHTC is different and a pleasurable challenge. He considers the most important aspect of his job to be his experience as a whole.

His biggest piece of advice to those within the industry is to take serious interest in the needs and desires of the decision maker. This will show your client that you are a true asset to them. 

When Dennis isn’t working, you can find him fishing and spending time relaxing at his cabin, enjoying the peace of nature.
