Assurance Associate
Meet Maria!
Maria Arreola is a recent graduate from Western Michigan University and serves as an Assurance Associate at EHTC. Her day-to-day tasks include researching and identifying audit risks for clients. Typically, she inspects an organization’s financial records to ensure that they have been recorded properly, and organizes them to be represented in their respective schedules. This process can consist of getting proof of certain transactions or getting a breakdown of the schedule of transactions that occurred throughout the year.
For Maria, every project she’s assigned at EHTC is unique, because each company she works with is different and has its own operational functions. Though some of those functions may overlap within an industry, every level of assurance service provided has a different set of circumstances specific to that year. “It keeps us on our toes,” she says.
Maria believes the most important part of her job is communication. Everything is connected, and it is important to be in regular contact with other team members to gain helpful insights and to ensure everyone’s on the same page.
Her favorite part of working at EHTC is the family feel. The team surrounding her at EHTC is knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming. If Maria could offer advice to those interested in joining the field of finance, it would be to grasp the importance of internships. “Internships help to set expectations for your upcoming career and help you gain necessary experience,” she says.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys binge-watching Hulu shows and Disney movies with her young son. She also enjoys taking her husky to the dog park with her husband and son.
