Meet Tim!
CPA | Advisory Senior Manager & Market Development
Tim Carlson, CPA, is an Advisory Senior Manager at EHTC, where he leads market development efforts in Traverse City and the greater Northern Michigan region. In this role for the firm, Tim works closely with EHTC's Advisory Services team on Quality of Earnings (QoE) and other advisory engagements while introducing businesses across the region to the firm's full range of accounting, tax, and advisory services.
Tim earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Adrian College, where he also played hockey, and his Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. He began his career in public accounting, gaining exposure to assurance and tax engagements, then spent eight years at a Michigan mergers and acquisitions firm, serving private equity clients and their portfolio companies across industries including manufacturing & distribution, construction, business services, government contracting, franchising, and restaurants. Tim left his M&A advisory role in 2021 to put his entrepreneurial spirit to work, owning and operating a multi-unit Little Caesars restaurant franchise until he sold the restaurants in Spring 2026.
That combination of professional services and business ownership experience sets Tim apart as an advisory professional. He has sat in the same seat as many of the business owners EHTC serves, and he understands their challenges firsthand. At EHTC, Tim is a relationship leader, connecting clients with the right technical experts across departments. He believes strongly in giving Northern Michigan businesses a local, neighborhood advisor experience, whether it’s due diligence, tax planning, outsourced accounting support, or other EHTC lines of service.
Tim is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an active member of the Traverse City community. He sits on the finance council of his church and serves as a co-chair of a committee supporting Gladhander, an annual fundraiser supporting Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools.
Above all, Tim is a family man, who enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He stays active by participating in a Traverse City area men’s hockey league along with golfing, fishing, boating, and everything else the four seasons of Northern Michigan have to offer.
