Meet Josh!
Tax Associate
Josh Huene, Tax Associate at EHTC, prepares tax returns for a mix of individual and business clients. While he handles his share of individual 1040s, Josh mainly focuses on business returns and continues to build on the international tax experience he first gained as an EHTC intern. As the firm’s international clientele grows, Josh has become increasingly involved with that side of the practice.
Josh is a graduate of Aquinas College’s Bachelor of Professional Accountancy program. He discovered EHTC as a sophomore in college, after a professor encouraged him to attend the Accounting & Finance Career Fair despite having only taken a class or two in accounting at the time. He connected with EHTC staff, was called for an interview soon after, and started as an intern in January 2024. Josh kept working through every semester and busy season that followed, staying on continuously until he joined the firm full-time as a Tax Associate.
During his internship, Josh appreciated that EHTC put him to work on both business returns and 1040s from early on, rather than limiting him to the data-entry-heavy 1040 work some of his peers experienced at other firms. He was part of EHTC’s international tax team as an intern and continues to pick up international projects today. Looking ahead, Josh hopes to keep building his focus on partnership returns while continuing to grow his international tax knowledge – all while studying for the CPA exams.
Josh is an athlete and sports fan who enjoys golfing, basketball, and playing slow-pitch softball alongside former high school baseball teammates. He loves spending time outdoors in all varieties, especially hiking, camping, and fishing. Over the past couple of years, he has also gotten involved in events with Special Olympics alongside his fiancée, who is studying to become a special education teacher. Most recently, Josh volunteered at Camp Sunshine, a weeklong experience where intellectually and developmentally disabled campers are paired one-to-one with a volunteer counselor for a safe, caring, and accepting camp experience.
