EHTC Hosts 35th Annual Chipping for Charity Golf Outing

Chipping for Charity is a yearly event that’s close to the hearts of all of us at EHTC. Through it, we live and breathe our core values of Willingness to Grow, Going Above and Beyond, Passion for Living, and Teamwork—and this year, our 35th year—was yet another opportunity to reinforce what matters to us as much as the business at hand!

Each year, we select a different local nonprofit organization to be the recipient of the Chipping for Charity golf outing proceeds. For 2023, we selected Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Kent County. Though choosing a recipient when there are so many worthy and beneficial causes to support in our community can be challenging, we go through a thoughtful and thorough process of reviewing all the applications we receive.

Who is CASA? This nonprofit organization was founded by the 17th Circuit Court Family Division judges to enlist dedicated advocates for children in the court system. Their job is to recruit, screen, and train volunteers to advocate in court for children in our community who have experienced abuse or neglect.

In researching the organization, we learned children who have a CASA spend less time in foster care and have superior outcomes in other facets of their lives. It’s easy to see why and how their mission is so needed in our communities, and we’re honored to be able to assist them in furthering their important work—especially in recruiting volunteers to increase their capacity to serve more children.

At EHTC we’re not only committed to helping clients and team members reach their full potential; we extend that philosophy to the community at large, and that’s why these types of events are so meaningful to us.

In addition to being able to help a local charity, our Chipping for Charity outing gives us the opportunity to support other local small businesses, and holding it at Scott Lake Golf & Practice Center in Comstock Park is part of that. Since 1962, the Center has welcomed golf enthusiasts of all skill levels to their public course, and their passion aligns with ours in the way they treat all of their guests.

What about the outing itself? This year's event took place on Tuesday, June 27, 2023—at Scott Lake, naturally! We hosted 128 golfers (32 teams) and 24 EHTC volunteers. We are also thrilled we got to present a check of $22,000 to CASA Kent County! AMAZING!

All of us at EHTC strive to maintain a balance of hard work, fun, and philanthropic endeavors,  and this event represents all of those efforts well. Since we first started Chipping for Charity, more than $350,000 has been raised and invested into West Michigan nonprofit organizations.

We couldn’t be happier to give back to the community that has given so much to us! For more information about our Chipping for Charity event, please visit this page.
