EHTC will host its 35th annual Chipping for Charity Golf Outing on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Scott Lake Golf & Practice Center, 911 Hayes Road Northeast, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Since its inception, over $350,000 has been raised and invested into West Michigan non-profit organizations. This year, EHTC is excited to announce its 2023 recipient: CASA of Kent County.

Each year, EHTC selects a different local nonprofit organization to donate the proceeds of the annual golf outing. With so many wonderful and worthy local causes, the recipient selection process is never easy. However, the team at EHTC prides themselves in giving back to the local community however possible!

“Our Chipping for Charity events are a part of the fabric of our firm’s Core Values— Willingness to Grow, Going Above and Beyond, Passion for Living, and Teamwork,” said Dave Echelbarger, President of EHTC. “We are so excited for CASA of Kent County to be our recipient this year— Their mission is so needed in our communities and we’re grateful to be able to assist them in furthering their amazing work!”

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, and CASA of Kent County recruits, screens, and trains volunteers to advocate in court for children in our community, ages newborn to 17, who have experienced abuse or neglect. Volunteers receive extensive training prior to being matched with a child of sibling group and work diligently to build strong, supportive relationships with the children. CASA volunteers gather and present first-hand information, along with the children’s wishes, to help judges make the best and most informed decisions about children’s futures during court hearings.

“The opportunity to share our mission with all the golfers and the entire EHTC community is so valuable to us because we are always trying to spread the word and recruit more volunteers,” says Stephanie Sheler, CASA Kent County Executive Director. “The funds raised this year will help us to increase our capacity to serve more children, which is always our goal. We’re grateful to EHTC for choosing to be a part of the community solution to combat child abuse and neglect!”

The Chipping for Charity Golf Outing is a four-person “best ball” scramble where each team plays 18 holes of golf. Additional contests can be found on the course such as longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin.

Individual and team registration opens May 1, 2023, as well as sponsorship opportunities. To register, become a sponsor, make a donation, or to learn more about the event, visit our Chipping for Charity page.
